MRS. JACOB EBNER PASSES AWAY WAS 73 YEARS OLD AND LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF FRENCH CREEK

Following just fifteen days after the death of her husband Mrs. Jacob Ebner passed away last Friday at her home in French Creek Township, which locality had been her life long home. Her death followed the flu wich developed into double pneumonia.

Johanna Leppert was born in French Creek Township Sept. 13, 1855, and had reached the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 5 days. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Leppert.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Ebner on Jan. 1, 1877, her maiden name being Johanna Leppert. To this union eight children were born, two having preceded the parents in death. Those surviving are: Mrs. Charles Wild, Emma, Walter, Mrs. Herman Gelo, and Harvey, all of French Creek Township locality, and Frank of Wabasha, Minn. She is also survived by a half-sister, Lena Leppert and four half brothers, John, Christian, and Gustav, all of Berlin, N.D., and Fred of Fall Creek, Oregon. She is also survived by ten grandchildren.

The departed joined the Methodist Episcopal Church Sept. 9, 1872. Her religious training she received during the ministry of Fr. Schmidt. At the time she also gave herself for the service of the master for it meant a consecration of her life in order to become a member of said church to which she remained faithful to her end. May her soul rest from her labors.

The funeral was held from the home and the Congregational Church at Church Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. Arthur C. Prust officiated, assisted by Rev. Kurt Schalk, interment being made in the family lot at the May's Prairie Cemetery.

MRS. JACOB EBNER

French Creek, Ia., Jan.25. - Special: Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock for Mrs. Jacob Ebner, who died at the family home on Friday evening after a short illness of influenza and pneumonia. Services were held to the German M. E. church at Church, Ia., Revs. Priest and Schall officiating. The remains were interred in the family lot at Mays Prairie beside her husband and two children, Flora and Charles, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ebner, nee Johanna Leppert, was born here Sept. 13, 1855, and this locality has always been her home. She was married to Mr. Ebner on Jan. 1, 1877. He preceded her in death 15 days. Surviving are six children, Frank of Wabasha, Minn., Harvey, Emma, Walter, Mrs. Charles Wilde and Mrs. Herman Gelo, all of this locality; one sister, Miss Lena Leppert of Berlin, N.D.; and four brothers, Fred of Fall Creek, Ore., John, Gustave and Christian, of Berlin, N.D.
