L. J. Schulte's Rites on Monday

DORCHESTER-- Lawrence J. Schulte, whose home had always been in this area, died April 7. His funeral was held from St. Mary's church here on Monday with Father Duane Raftis, Farther Edgar Kolfenbach and Father Vincent Simon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery at Dorchester.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Schulte, he was born Oct. 13, 1919, at Dorchester, and had always lived in Allamakee county. He and Monica Henry were married at Lycurgus May 27, 1949. Mrs. Schulte remains.

There are 11 children, all at home. They are: Dean, Dennis, Terry, Randy, Lyle, Anita, Donna, Miles, Carmel, Laura and Jeffrey.

The brothers and sister remaining are Clarence, Vincent, Hank, Joe, Bernard and Frank Schulte, all of Dorchester, and Mrs. Joe (Mary) Gavin, Waukon. Theresa and Matthew Schulte, a sister and a brother, preceded him.

Educated in the local school, Mr. Schulte was a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, and American Legion post 249 at Spring Grove. He had served overseas two years, and was in the service from January of 1942 to November of 1945.

Death date 7 April 1961
