LAST RITES FOR ELIZABETH C. SIMENSEN
Elizabeth C. Simensen, 92, passed away at Northgate Manor nursing home on Saturday, October 22. She had been a resident of Northgate for the past several years.
She was born on November 11, 1884, to John and Julia Schwartzhoff in French Creek township. She was educated in the local schools, and on October 15, 1918, she married Alfred Simensen of rural Waukon.
They made their home on the groom's farm on the Upper Iowa River in Hanover township until they retired and moved to Waukon. He preceded her in death in February of 1966.
She was a housewife and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. She was the last of her family. Preceding her in death were brother and sisters, Mary, John, Edward, Emma, Louise and Rosa (Mrs. Ole Orness). She is survived by great nieces and a great nephew.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, at Martin Funeral Home, the Rev. William Tjaden officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Denney, Robert Leppert, Lawrence Ricker, Alden Larson, Herbert Simensen and Donald Leppert.
