Joann Irene Karst Schierholz, age 70, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005 at her home in Warsaw, Missouri, after a long battle with cancer. She was on born on September, 1, 1934 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Chris and Lillian Karst.

She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1951. She worked for Pitman Mfg., Co. in Grandview, Missouri for 26 years, and then retiring from H. R. Williams in Kansas City, Missouri in 1996, moving to Warsaw, Missouri in 1998.

Joann was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Warsaw, Missouri, the American Legion Auxiliary for 40 years, the B.P.O.E. #2783 of Warsaw, and was Exalted Ruler from 2004 to 2005.

Joann enjoyed cake decorating, bowling and her music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband Stanley, of the home; two sons, Mark Schierholz and his wife Roni, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Patrick Schierholz, and his wife, Cryss, of Warsaw, Missouri, a brother, Bill J. Karst and his wife Jan, of Warsaw, one sister Evelyn Snyder, and her husband, Jim, of Chillicothe, Mo., 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was Saturday, July 16, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home, in Warsaw, Missouri. Funeral services were Monday, July 18, 2005 at Mt. Moriah-Freeman Funeral Home at I-435 and Holmes Rd. in Kansas City, Missouri. Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Mark Schierholz, Patrick Schierholz, Robert Trudeau, Steve Vickers, Uriah Mitts and Phil Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Weiseman, Wayne Beaty and Tim Fink.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
