Funeral services for Eileen Gulsvig were held Monday, June 20, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Reverend Marshall Hahn officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Casket Bearers were: Don Sowers, Gerald Guyer, Ronald Meyer, Wayne Schroeder, Gerald "Pete" Meyer.

Eileen Louise Gulsvig, the daughter of Albert and Alma (Schroeder) Gulsvig, was born January 22, 1916, in Marion Township, Clayton County, near Gunder, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa, at the age of 89 years.

She was baptized on February 6, 1916, and confirmed November 28, 1929, in the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder. She was graduated from Postville High School, St. Luke’s Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, and Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Eileen served as a Nursing Supervisor in the Cook County Hospital at Chicago, Illinois from 1940 to 1969. In July of 1969 she returned to her parent’s home in Postville, Iowa. She had rendered tender, loving care to her parents until October 18, 1982, when her mother passed away. Eileen retired in 1982.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Berma Lane Gulsvig, Postville, Iowa, and many cousins throughout the United States.
