Edward T. Martens

Edward T. Martens, 70, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waukon died Sunday, Sept. 24 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born May 14, 1919 in Postville. He married Margot Lorentson Dec. 9, 1940 in Nashua.

He farmed near Waukon until 1961. He then worked for Logan and Logan as a carpenter. He worked for Appleby and Horn Tile Co. as a warehouse supervisor until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, 4 sons: Ronald of Irving, TX; Richard, Thomas and Jon, all of Cedar Rapids; 9 daughters, Ann Dalziel, Susan Hoeppner, Barbara Martens, Debra Trachta and Judy Davis, all of Cedar Rapids; Mary Hensel, Mt. Vernon; Nancy White, Keokuk; Linda Gallagher, St. Mary, VA; Kristine Herber, Amana; 1 brother, Art Martens, Fort Collins, CO; 2 sisters, Ruby Turner and Helga Smith, Postville; 30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services were held last Wednesday at The Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Robert Bouton of Christ Presbyterian Church officiating. Entombment was in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
