Bill Wullner

Funeral services for Bill Wullner were held Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 10:30 A. M. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend James Allison officiated, assisted by the Reverend Gary Catterson. Casket Bearers were: LeeRoy Wullner, Kirk Johnson, James Stee, Cloy Kuhse, Joe Duwe, Ted Brainard, and Honorary Casket Bearers were: Gene Brainard, Roger Christofferson, Charles Moser, Eldon Kregel, Robert Heckmann, Leon Everman. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

William August Wullner was born February 12, 1928, to Ernst Wullner and Minnie Lembke Wullner, on the family farm in Post Township, Allamakee County, northeast of Postville, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, February 15, 2004, in the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 76 years and three days.

He was baptized March 12, 1928 by the Reverend E. T. Finck in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, and confirmed there on July 19, 1942 by the Reverend Frederick R. Ludwig. Bill attended the Minert School near his home and Postville High School.

On July 25, 1948 Bill was married to Zonna Louise Stee in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. To this union four children were born. They farmed in the Postville area all of their lives. Bill enjoyed collecting toy Farmall tractors. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Erna Brainard, a brother, Ernst Wullner, Jr., two brothers-in-law, Merle Stee, Jr. and Dale Brainard, and nephews, David Lee, David Wullner, Richard Wullner.

Survivors include his wife, Zonna, his children, Julie Wullner, Springfield, IL, Jane Wullner and Carol (Darwin) Johnson, all of Postville, and Brian (Denise) Wullner, Waukon, IA; three grandchildren, Kira Johnson, Kirk Johnson, and Sarah Wullner; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, Terre Haute, IN, and Bonnie Stee, Castalia, IA.

Bill was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
