WAUKON STANDARD, WAUKON, IA; 1999 - Helen M. White, 92, a former Waukon resident and Waukon teacher, died Friday, May 28, 1999 at Elma Haven Care Center in Denver, CO. She was the daughter of John and Mary (McKenna) Blake of Dorchester. Private services were held in Denver and graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, June 2 at 2.30 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetary, Waukon. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg will officiate, Hanson Funeral Home is in charge of the service. A memorial mass will be offered in Septembr at St. Patricks's Catholic Church in Waukon. Helen was born June 23, 1906 in Chicago, IL. She attended Dubuque College and did coursework at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She taught school in the northeast Iowa area, including several years in a one-room school near Elon in Allamakee County. April 19, 1932, she married Leo White in Chicago. They lived in Chicago for several years before moving to Waukon. Leo died in 1946. Helen later moved to Cedar Rapids where she worked in admissions at Mercy Hospital. She moved to Denver in 1961. Helen was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Englewood, CO. She is survived by three daughters, Ann Goodson, Eileen Armstrong and Joan White, and a son Joseph, all of Denver; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Marie Schulte of Waukon, Beatrice Mauss of New Albin, and Frances Blake of LeMoore, CA. Preceding her in death were four sisters, Julia Mauss, Gertrude Larson, Betty Hegeman and Patricia Byrnes, and four brothers, Bill, John, Patrick and Jimmy Blake.

Helen M. White, 92, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Waukon, died Friday, May 28, 1999, in Elms Haven Care Center, Denver, after a lingering illness. Graveside services: 10:30a.m. Wednesday, Mounty Olivet Catholice Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Goodson, Eileen Armstrong and Joan White, and a son Joseph White, all of Denver, Colo., and three sisters, Marie Schulte of Waukon, Beatrice Mauss of New Albin and Frances Blake of LeMoore, Calif.
