Rites Held For Joe Muchow
Funeral services for Joe Muchow, 80, were held Thursday, May 8, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Reverend David R. Nelson officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Joe Muchow, son of John and Mamie (Ervin) Muchow, was born Sept. 4, 1899 at Postville. He died May 4, 1980 at Thornton Manor, Lansing.
He received his education in the Postville area schools. November 12, 1926 he was married to Mary Anna Saueressig at Lincoln, Neb., where he was employed by the Burlington Railroad. They farmed in the Postville, Castalia, McGregor and Luana area since 1935. In 1978 he became a resident of the County Care Facility and for the past six months has been a resident of Thornton Manor at Lansing.
Preceding him death are his parents, two brothers, Hall ('Chick') and Enos, and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, two sons: Joe E., Ravensdale, Wash., and Donald, Postville; three daughters: Mrs. Leonard (Norma Jean) Mellick, Lansing; Mrs. Roger (Mary Ann) Kugel, Waukon and Mrs. Charles (Alice May) Kimber, Mabel, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four brothers: Clarence, Long Beach, Calif.; John ('Jack'), Ottumwa; Walter, Bay Saint Louis, Miss. and Guy, West Union; two sisters: Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Moses, Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Levy, Des Moines.
