Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville for Mrs. Fred Blumhagen, who passed away November 26 at her home. The Rev. C. E. Witt was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville Cemetery.

Bertha Maria Dorothea Krogman, Mrs. Fred Blumhagen, was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany on November 25, 1876, the daughter of John Krogmann and Elisabeth Schroeder Krogman. She came with her family, to this country at the age of four years. She was baptized in Germany November 25, 1876 and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville on March 22, 1891. She passed away at her home on November 26,1958 at the age 82 years and one day.

She was married to Fred Blumhagen on April 3, 1907, and they began farming northwest of Postville, where she lived the remainder of her life. To this union was born one son, Elmer Blumhagen of Castalia.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, four sisters, Mary, Mrs. Carl Schultz of Luana; Lena, Mrs. John Nise of Lime Springs; Anna, Mrs. August Schara of Dubuque; and Wilhelmina, who died in infancy in Germany; two brothers, Henry Krogman of Postville and Charles Krogman of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; and one half brother, John Schroeder of Castalia. She is survived by her husband, her son, Elmer Blumhagen, one sister, Minnie, Mrs. Henry Muchow of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, a number of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Note: According to christening records 1876 from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eldena, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, Bertha's name is Bertha Sophia Dorothea Krogman(n).
