Mrs. LAWRENCE (Huldah W. Kuhse) BLOCK 1907-1981
Funeral services were held for Huldah W. Block, 73, Saturday, Jan. 17, 1981 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville with the Rev. David Nelson and the Rev. Julius Peterson officiating. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Huldah Block, daughter of Fred and Anne (Meyer) Kuhse, was born Jan. 24, 1907 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. March 7, 1907 she was baptized in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, and confirmed Sept. 5, 1920. She attended rural schools.
She was married to Lawrence Block, Dec. 14, 1927. They farmed many years south of Postville. After the death of her husband, she sold the farm and moved to LaCrosse, Wis., where she lived until her death.
She died Jan. 15 at St. Francis Medical Center in LaCrosse.
Preceding her in death were her husband, a son, Lyle, three grandchildren, and a sister Alma Kuhse. Surviving are three sons: Marvin of Oxford, Iowa; Curtis of Ely, Iowa; and Duane of LaCrosse, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Eileen) Kessel, Dakota, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, Victor, Lorenz and Milo Kuhse, all of Postville; and five sisters, Lillian Braun of Postville; Mrs. Orville (Helen) Peterson of St. Olaf, Iowa; Mrs. Victor (Orman) Benzing of Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; Hilma Kohrs of Independence, Iowa; and Mrs. Charles (Pearl) Folsom of Waukon.
