WILLIAM GOTTLIEB BROCKMEYER 1876-1962
William Gottlieb Brockmeyer, the son of Carl and Henriette Lampe Brockmeyer, was born on July 10, 1876 in Laverne, Westphalia, Germany. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran Church in Germany, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany on March 22, 1891. He died at his home in Postville on July 2, 1962 at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 22 days. He came to America in the fall of 1894 and settled near Postville, where he farmed until 1942, when he moved with his wife to Postville, which has been his home ever since.
He was united in marriage to Anna Meyer on November 28, 1905. To this union was born one son. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mrs. Christ Heckman of Ossian, Mrs. Fred Martens of Waukon and Mrs. Theodore Klemme of Postville. He is survived by his wife; his son, Elmer and his daughter-in-law, of Postville; one sister, Mrs. Fred Stopperan of Postville; a number of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Postville on Thursday, July 5, at 2:00 with the Rev. C. E. Witt officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
