Mrs. BEN (Hannah Willis) Ewing DAVIS 1886-1978

Funeral services for Hannah "Nan" Davis of Postville, were held Thursday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. William Tjaden officiated.

Hannah "Nan" Bowen Davis, daughter of George and Elizabeth Bowen Willis, was born July 28, 1886 at Berthoud, Colorado and died December 4 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville at the age of 92 years.

She moved to the Postville area with her parents and attended the rural schools of Postville. On June 6, 1908 she was married to William S. Ewing and to this union five children were born. Mr. Ewing died May 15, 1936. On April 26, 1953, she was married to Ben Davis, and he died in 1966.

She joined the Community Presbyterian Church, January 3, 1954.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husbands, William and Ben; one brother, Abraham; three sisters: Margaret Wolauer, Mary Whaley, and Elizabeth Ewing; two sons; Robert and William.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Hazel Olson, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; Mrs. Bertie (Mabel) Waters, Postville; Mrs. Vern (Gladys) Stover, Martell; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and a brother, George Willis, Postville.

Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Note: Hannah's death date was December 4, 1978. I assume this is the Postville Herald newspaper.
