ELI LEWIS FISH 1871-1947

Lewis Fish, 75, a resident of this community for the past 47 years, passed away Monday morning. He had been living with his brother, Ed Fish, since coming to town in October. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 o'clock in the Schutte funeral home, the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating, and interment will be in a cemetery near Shellsburg, Benton county.

Mr. Fish was born near Shellsburg September 19, 1870, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fish. He grew to manhood there and located on a farm north of Luana 47 years ago.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma Barr of Waukon, and two brothers, Edward of Postville and George of Freeport. A brother, Otto, passed away last Saturday and his funeral was yesterday at Waukon.

E. L. FISH OBITUARY; PASSED AWAY HERE AFTER BRIEF RESIDENCE

Eli Lewis Fish, son of Henry Fish and Elizabeth Miller Fish, was born September 19, 1871, in Benton County, Iowa, and departed this life after a seven week illness on June 23, 1947, at the home of his brother, Ed Fish and family in Postville, aged 75 years, 9 months and 4 days old.

In 1900, four years after the death of his father, Mr. Fish accompanied his mother and other members of the family to Allamakee county where the family home was established and where the deceased spent the remaining years of his life. Mr. Fish was unmarried.

Left to mourn his passing are one sister, Emma Barr of Waukon, and two brothers Ed Fish of Postville and George Fish of Freeport, Iowa.

Mr. Fish was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers. One brother, Otto, passed away at Lansing June 26. The remains were taken to Benton county and interment was in the McBroom cemetery.
