Mrs. Mary Kean of Lansing [Allamakee County], Ia., mother of Mrs. Robt. Mannigel, died Tuesday morning [23 Oct 1917] at 10 o’clock at the home of her daughter in this city [Luverne]. Death was due to heart trouble. The body, accompanied by John Kean, of Lansing; Mrs. Mannigel [Nellie] of this city, and Mrs. J. P. Kennedy and son Emmett, of Hardwick [Rock County Minnesota], was taken over the Omaha Tuesday to Lansing, where it was expected funeral services would be held today.
Mrs. Kean was quite well known to a number of the people of this city, having frequently visited here with her daughter during the past few years. Her last visit dated from July, and her health had been poorly during all of this time, but her illness became pronounced only last Saturday [20 Oct 1917].
The deceased was 77 years old, and besides Mrs. Mannigel is survived by her four sons. They are James, of San Rafael, Calif.; Charles, of Dyerville, Ia., and Will and John Kean, of Lansing.
