Mrs. STANLEY (Vera C. Marston) FRITZSIMMONS

Vera C. Marston, daughter of Arthur Fisher and Jennie (Carithers) Marston, was born November 16, 1866 at Postville, Iowa and passed away on Monday, March 27, at Pomeroy, Washington at the age of 74 years, four months and 11 days.

She received her earlier education in the Minert School district and the Postville public schools. After graduation from high school in 1904, she taught for one year in the South Grove and West Grove School districts near Postville. She was graduated from Cornell college at Mount Vernon in 1909 and later continued her education in the graduate school at the University of Chicago. She followed her career as a high school English teacher at Lansing and Bedford and Madison, South Dakota before going to teach in the Pomeroy, Washington high school in 1918.

She was married in November 1919 to Stanley Fitzsimmons, a member of an early pioneer family of the Pomeroy community, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Fitzsimmons was a member of the Pomeroy Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service, both of which she served for many years. She was also a member of an Economics Club, the WCTU, and the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Marston and Wesley of Pomeroy; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Janice) Dorman of La Crosse, Washington; seven grandchildren; one brother, Jay of Los Angeles; and one sister, Mrs. Lafe (Daisy) Tague of Kirkwood, Missouri. In addition to her parents, her sister, Violet, and her brother, Euclid, preceded her in death.

Services were held at Pomeroy on Wednesday, March 29, from the Methodist Church with interment in the Pomeroy city cemetery.
