RITES HELD FOR MRS. ALVIN GRUEL

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Postville for Mrs. Alvin Gruel, 59, who passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital on August 14, following a short illness. The Rev. C. E. Witt was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Alvin Gruel, Amanda Luebka, the daughter of Charles Luebka and his wife Anna Ehde Luebka, was born September 25, 1901 in Postville. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church of Postville on October 24, 1901 and confirmed on September 3, 1916.

She suffered a stroke on August 9, 1961 and was taken to the Community Memorial Hospital, where she died on August 16, 1961 at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 22 days.

She was married to Alvin Gruel on January 27, 1926. To this union was born three sons. After their marriage, they farmed in Clayton and Allamakee counties for their entire life together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Darvin. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Karlton, at home, and Larry, a student at Iowa State University in Ames; three sisters, Ruby, Mrs. Albert Grotegut of Postville, Gertrude, Mrs. Lester Jahnke of Postville and Adaline, Mrs. Edwin Grotegut of Waterloo.
