Rites Held For Louis Heins At St. Paul's Church

Funeral services for Louis Heins, 62, of Luana were held last Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. from the Schutte Funeral home to St. Paul's Lutheran church in Postville at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R. C. Schlueter of Monona officiating.

Burial was in the Guttenberg cemetery.

Mr. Heins was in ill health for the last three years and was taken to Rochester, Minnesota, three weeks ago for treatment. He died at St. Mary's hospital at Rochester, May 17, 1953.

He was born a son of Henry and Wilhelmina, nee Martin, Heins, February 25, 1891, near Luana. He was married November 25, 1915, to Roma Bittner of Guttenberg. The couple lived near Guttenberg for four years and then moved to a farm four miles south of Luana, where they have lived since.

He was preceded in death by one son, Cyril, July 13, 1931; one brother, Rudolph, and his parents.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten daughters, Mrs. Leo (Violet) McNally of Postville, Mrs. Freddy (Roma) Lahrs of Elkader, Mrs. Nicholas (Hazel) Dietz of Moline, Illinois, Mrs. Elmo (Birdena) Behrend of Guttenberg, Mrs. Francis (Ida Mae) Behrend of Colesburg, Mrs. Henry (Betty Lou) Geick of Guttenberg, and Shirley Mae, LaVonne, Rose Marie, and Gerene, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Senholtz of Postville and Mrs. John Bittner of Guttenberg; three brothers, William and Henry of Luana and Ed of Clermont; and 17 grandchildren.
