LOUIS KOENIG 1872-1956

Funeral services are being held this afternoon, Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Louis Koenig, 83, who passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon on July 8. The Rev. C. E. Witt is in charge of the final rites.

Louis Koenig was born August 11, 1872 near Garnavillo, Iowa, the son of William Koenig and Charlotte Meyer. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in infancy, and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on Palm Sunday, 1887. He passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon, on July 8, 1956, after having been confined to his bed for over four years. He was 83 years, 10 months, and 27 days old.

He was married to Anna Witt on January 21, 1896 [or 1897]. To this union was born one child, Ruby, now Mrs. Ruby Gass of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, four sisters, Mrs. Louise Kaiser of Monona, Mrs. Rosina Ruckdaschel of Postville, Mrs. Mary Schroeder of Postville, and Mrs. Lena Christofferson of Postville and one grandchild.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruby; a foster daughter, Marie Shogren, of LaCrosse; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Poesch of Postville; two brothers, William C. Koenig and Fred Koenig of Castalia and four grandchildren.
