CHARLES E. KROM 1884-1985

One-hundred-year-old Charles E. Krom of Waukon died Tuesday, March 12, 1985 at Northgate Care center.

Krom, a rural school teacher, train engineer and farmer, was born in Allamakee county June 14, 1884, the son of George and Lucy (Halsey) Krom. He attended rural schools and Waukon Business college, and married Pearl Adams in Canton, MN May 2, 1934. Except for a short time in Waterloo, Krom lived in the local area most of his life.

He is survived by a stepdaughter Mrs. Cloy (Reva) Lawson of Waukon; a stepson Harold Adams of Gladstone, OR; nine step-grandchildren and 22 step-great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Friday morning, March 15, 1985 at Martin's funeral home. Guy A. Barr conducted the 10:30 a.m. services and burial was in Smithfield cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gilbert Kurth, Gerald Kurth, Chet Barr, Sr., Roland Folsom, LaVerne Geno and Kenneth Brooks.
