LYNXVILLE, Iowa -- The bodies of two Allamakee County men who had been missing since Sunday have been located in the Mississippi River near here and identified. The men were identified this morning as Clifford Livingood, 41, of Rossville, Iowa, and David Miller, 24, of rural Postville, Iowa. Crawford County authorities said the two men had put their motorboat in off the eastern shore of Allamakee County, Iowa, across the river from here Sunday afternoon and their boat was discovered empty, except for a dog, about 6:30 p.m. Sunday by a fisherman. Dragging operations were begun and Miller's body was recovered from the water about 7:45 p.m. yesterday; Livingood's body was recovered about 6:45 a.m. today. Crawford County Coroner Doug Rice said death was caused by accidental drowning.

Postville Herald: Funeral rites were held Thursday, Aug. 17, 1978 at the Waukon First Presbyterian Church for Clifford L. Livingood. The Rev. Roger Hawthorne presided. Clifford Lee Livingood was the son of Byron and LuLu (Leet) Livingood and graduated from Waukon High School. He is survived by a wife, Shirley (Fiet) Livingood and a daughter, Barbara Lee, of Rossville; his mother, Mrs. Byron Livingood, Waukon; and a brother Willis, Postville. Graveside rites for Clifford Livingood were held in the Waukon Cemetery.

TWO DROWN IN SUNDAY RIVER ACCIDENT
Two Allamakee county men drowned on Sunday in the Mississippi River near Lynxville, Wis., according to the Crawford county sheriff's office.
Dead are David Dean Miller, 24, of rural Postville, and Clifford Lee Livingood, 41, of Rossville.
Crawford County Sheriff Bill Fillbach said the men apparently were trying out a boat and motor in the Lynxville area on Sunday August 13.
At 5:47 p.m. on Sunday Robert Hagensick of Lynxville called the Sheriff's Department stating that he found a boat floating carrying a dog.
Authorities from Crawford, Iowa, Grant and Vernon counties as well as the fire department of Gays Mills and Lansing, conducted a search on August 14.
The body of Miller was found on Monday at 7:45 p.m. at the northwest corner of Deer Island. The body was found by Roger Svebakken of Spring Valley, MN., Tom Fritz of Waukon and Jim Christensen of Waterville.
On August 15 at 6:45 a.m., Hagensick reporting finding the body of Livingood at the south end of Old Channel.
The Crawford County Coroner ruled that the deaths were accidental drownings.

Clifford was married to Shirlee Fiet; his parents were Byron R.& Lulu Isabelle Leet Livingood. Clifford's DOB: 21 Apr 1937 - DOD: 13 Aug 1978
