LAWRENCE WILLIAM MARTIN

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10, 1973, at 11 a.m. from Martin funeral home for Lawrence Martin of Waukon who died Thursday, December 6, 1973, in the Veterans hospital in Iowa City. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frederic Heles officiated and burial was held, with military rites in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Mr. Martin served in World War I. He was employed as a county road worker. Mr. Martin was born August 26, 1896 in Boyd and was a son of William and Belle Moody Martin. He attended the local schools and July 28, 1932 married Effie Ewing.

She survives as do five sons, John, Ralph and Thomas of Postville, William of Corvallis, Ore., and LeRoy of Evansdale, and three daughters, Mrs. Eldo (Margery) Kugel and Mrs. Lloyd (Loretta) Oakland of Postville, and Mrs. LaVern (Dorothy) Perry of Castalia. Fifteen grandchildren, two brothers, Ralph of Waukon and John of Lansing, Michigan and two sisters, Mrs. William (Esther) Springer of Oakland, Ind., and Mrs. William (Teresa) Moritz of Cedar Rapids, also survive.

Two brothers, Henry and James, and three sister, Virginia, Mary and Katie, preceded him in death.
