Mrs. LAWRENCE M. (Effie M. Ewing) MARTIN

Effie M. (Marie) Martin, 77, of Postville died March 15, 1990 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. Services were held Saturday, March 17, 1990, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Chapel, Waukon. Father Ed Lechtenberg officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Martin Bros. Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Lafayette and Prudence Jones Ewing, she was born June 1, 1912 in rural Waukon. She received her education in Ludlow rural schools. She was a lifetime Allamakee resident.

On July 28, 1932 she married Lawrence William Martin who died December 6, 1973. Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence and 2 children, Margery Kugel and Leo; a brother, Egbert Ewing; and a sister, Eva.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. LaVern (Dorothy) Perry, Castalia; Loretta Oakland, Waukon; William Martin, Pilomath, OR; LeRoy Martin, Evansdale, IA; Ralph Martin, Postville; John Martin, Waukon; Thomas Martin, Postville; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandchildren: Jason Martin, Dustin Martin, William Martin, Zelda Kugel, Jammie Martin and Cheryl Seegmiller.
