Funeral services for August Miller were held in the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, on Saturday, September 14, 1968, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dick Harberts officiating. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

August Frederick Miller was born the son of Carl and Louise Michael Miller in Mecklenburg, Germany, on October 23, 1883. The family came to the United States in 1888 settling near Postville, Iowa. He received his education in rural schools. He was confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville on April 3, 1898 by the Reverend F. H. Schumann.

Mr. Miller was a plumber most of his life, working for the E. P. Durno Hardware for 30 years. He was the owner of the Gus Miller Plumbing shop in Postville for over 20 years.

He was married to Mrs. Clara Schroeder on July 1, 1930. After a brief illness, he passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 12, 1968. He reached the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, and five sisters: Edith, Mrs. Frank Bellows; Bertha, Mrs. John Gregg; Gusta, Mrs. Howard Wykoff; Anna, Mrs. Wilbert Wilke, all of Postville; Amanda, Mrs. Clarence Smith, Waterloo, and other relatives and friends.
