Abbie Laughlin Miller, the daughter of John Henry and Mary Douglas Laughlin, was born on a farm near Postville September 19, 1881 and passed away at a rest home in Pasadena, California on Sunday, January 12, 1958 at the age of 76 years having been in failing health for some time.
She was a graduate of the Postville high school and of Iowa State Teachers college after which she made teaching her profession for several years, teaching for a time in the Postville public schools.
On September 25, 1918 she was united in marriage to Lester H. Miller at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emma Brooks in Corning and their home was made at Kerkhoven, Minnesota where Mr. Miller passed away in 1953.
While residing in Postville, Abbie Laughlin was a member of the old Congregational Church and active in the Sunday School and Women's Association. Later she affiliated with the Presbyterian church at Kerkhoven.
She is survived by her only daughter, Francis Audrey, Mrs. Ben MacWhirter of Monrovia, California and a brother, Harold M. Laughlin of Finley, North Dakota.
