GERALD MOOSE

Gerald Moose, only son of Henry and Ida (Birdsell) Moose, was born May 6, 1885 in Winneshiek County, and passed away at his home at Rossville, Iowa, October 29, 1964. Mr. Moose was educated in the rural schools of Winneshiek county and grew to manhood in this community. He was a lifelong resident of this area.

On December 14, 1909 he was united in marriage to Stella Livingood at Waukon. Mr. and Mrs. Moose started farming and were engaged in that occupation in this vicinity until they retired about 11 years ago. To this union was born six sons and two daughters. They are: Gaylord and Milburn of Monona; Ralph of Rolla, Missouri; Hollis and Claude of Waukon; Hubert of Garnavillo; Coral, Mrs. Paul Klees, of Monona and Eloise, Mrs. Ralph Welch of McGregor.

Besides his wife, six sons and two daughters, he leaves to mourn his passing, 34 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Samuel Jerome Klees and Jerry Ralph Moose.

After his retirement he moved to Frankville where he lived until September 1963 when he moved to Rossville. Services were Saturday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. from the Martin Bros. Funeral Home, with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon.
