EDMUND H. PECHIA 1903-1987

Edmund H. Pechia, 84, a resident of the Frazee Retirement Center for the past five years, died at the facility on Monday, Aug. 17, 1987. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, from the Berean Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes with the Rev. Robert J. Fuller officiating. Mrs. Robert Fuller will be organist and the soloist will be Scott Stoll. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Audubon with West-Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Serving as the pallbearers will be Mike Reineccius, Keith Reineccius, Mark Reineccius, Jeff Reineccius, Tim Reineccius, Kevin Reineccius and Greg Reineccius.

Edmund H. Pechia was born at Northwood, Ia., on July 8, 1903, and moved to the Detroit Lakes area with his parents (Charles and Emma Hartman Pechia) as a young boy. He attended the District 28 school in Richwood Township and was married on June 14, 1925, to Jennie Riebhoff at Detroit Lakes. Mr. Pechia was employed in road construction and also farmed in the Callaway area.

Surviving are six daughters - Dolly Petrie, Detroit Lakes; Dorothy Ullstrom, Minneapolis; Mrs. Junior (Donna) Reineccius, Wadena; Mrs. Tom (Joyce) Young, Liberty Lake, Wash.; Mrs. Jerome (Shirley) Gallagher, Fessenden, N. D.; and Mrs. Ronnie (Sharon) Frey, Frazee; five sons - Edmund, Shelby, Mont.; Roy, Spokane, Wash.; and Eugene, Robert and Donald, all of Detroit Lakes, along with a sister - Gladys Fingalson, Detroit Lakes. There are 46 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Pechia in death were his parents, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pechia of Allamakee County, Iowa; his wife (who died in 1979) and a brother.
