Carl Reincke was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, May 19, 1850, and departed this life August 11, 1937, at the age of 87, 2 months, 22 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith to which he faithfully adhered to the end of his earthly days.

In the year 1873 he was united in marriage to Mary Schultz and their union was blessed with seven children.

In the year 1882 he came to America settling in Clayton County, where the most of his active life was spent at farming. In 1908, he retired from the farm and moved to Postville, where he has since resided. The past two and a half years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Eda Meyer, where he passed peacefully away last Wednesday morning.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1934, and by two of his children, Arthur in 1910 and Mrs. Anna Sauerssig in 1930.

Those who remain to mourn his loss are Mrs. Eda Meyer, C. F. Reincke, and Mrs. Mary Krogman, all of Postville; Mrs. Amelia Willman of Castalia; Fred J. Reincke of Froelich; also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Reincke was known to all as an honest and upright man and citizen, a good neighbor and friend, and all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance will sympathize sincerely with those bereft.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in this city at 3:30 last Friday afternoon, Rev. H. O. Meyer of Clayton Center officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in Postville Cemetery.
