Bertha L. Pearson was born at Hardin, Allamakee County, Iowa, January 26, 1879, and passed away at her home in Postville, Iowa, January 6, 1921. She was baptized in the N.E. church at Hardin in the winter of 1888, and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Postville, June 18, 1905.

On December 10, 1903, she was married to Charles F. Reincke of Grand Meadow township.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and two children, Delmar A. and Dorothy E; her mother; one brother, Chester Pearson of Postville; Mrs. W. E. Sawdy of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Fred Ernst of Minneapolis; Mrs. Henry Dunning of Arva, Oklahoma; Mrs. J. Collins of Council Bluffs; Mrs. D. W. Church of Turner, Montana; Victor Pearson of Hardin.

Her father preceded her to the better life on November 13th, 1899. Having spent all her life in this locality her many friends will sorely mourn her loss; but this loss is her gain. The funeral was held from the Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in Postville cemetery.

'Tis not that she was worthy,
But because her Savior died
When she reached the swelling Jordan
She could safely cross the tide.
She could triump over satan,
Gain a victory o'er the grave
Just because her loving Savior
Died to save.
Oh the joy of that bright morrow,
When we reach the other shore
Where the wicked cease from troubling
And we sorrow never more.
And we'll join the gladsome chorus
Of the ransomed ones above,
Ever praising our reedeemer

In this connection the family wish to thank the pastor, choir and many neighbors and friends for their many comforting words and kindly deeds during the illness and burial of their beloved wife and mother.
