JOHN KENNETH SANDERS

John Kenneth Sanders, 79, of Warrior Drive, Tryon, North Carolina, died January 11, 1974 in Greensboro where he and Mrs. Sanders were visiting their daughters. Graveside services were held Saturday at Polk Memorial Gardens near Tryon. The Rev. Richard Jackson officiated.

Mr. Sanders was formerly in the Luhman and Sanders store in Postville. He was the son of John Sanders, the original partner in Luhman and Sanders. He retired to Tryon in 1946 and was active in civic affairs, had served as a deacon in the Congregational Church, was a member of the Tryon Kiwanis Club, an active member of the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Before moving to Tryon he had been a member of the American Rose Society and in Tryon he grew a variety of flowers and shrubs and worked constantly at his hobby of studying, collecting and trading antiques.

Surviving are his widow, Eileen; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Foster and Mrs. E. H. (Julie) Gilbreath; two granddaughters all of Greensboro; and a sister Mrs. John Reineke of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
