Mrs. ELDO (Aileen Louise Meyer) SANDER 1902-1992

Funeral services for Mrs. Eldo Sander were held Tuesday, May 19, 1992, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Steven Friederich, Douglas Schrader, Karl Sander, David Schrader, Craig Friederich, Darron Sander, Kedric Groth, Kenton Groth, Lane Friederich, Dennis Sander, and Kevin Groth.

Aileen Louise Sander, daughter of William Henry and Minnie (Ehde) Meyer, was born May 31, 1902 in Grand Meadow Township in Clayton County, south of Postville. She passed away Saturday, May 16, 1992 in the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah, Iowa. She had reached the age of 89 years, 11 months and 15 days.

She was baptized August 3, 1902 by the Rev. P. E. Bockelmann and confirmed September 3, 1916 by the Rev. E. Schmidt, both in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. She attended the rural school near her home.

On December 5, 1929 she was married to Eldo Sander at the home of her parents. To this union five children were born. They farmed on the Sander family farm until 1963 when they retired but continued to live on the farm. In 1981 they moved to Postville.

Aileen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and an Honor Roll Member of the Women of the ELCA. She was a charter member of the Post Franklin Study Club, a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Postville and served for 21 years as an Allamakee County Home Volunteer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldo, who died December 16, 1983; 4 brothers, Walter, Harvey, Gilbert and Lloyd; and two sisters, Alma Ihde and Clara Miller.

Surviving are her children, Mustis and her husband, Raymond Friederich of Postville, Marjorie and her husband, Ronald Schrader of Luana, Burnell Sander and his wife, Gloria, Yvonne Groth, and Daryl Sander and his wife, Norma, all of Postville; 19 grandchildren, Sandra (Friederich) Gibson, Carol (Friederich) Moon, Steven Friederich, LeAnn (Friederich) Schmidt, Craig Friederich, Rhonda (Friederich) Schenkelberg and Lane Friederich, Debra (Schrader) Murphy, Douglas Schrader, Denise (Schrader) Everman, David Schrader, Dawn (Schrader) Mueller, Kedric Groth, Kenton Groth, Kevin Groth, Merri Chris (Sander) Meyer, Darron Sander, Dennis Sander, and Karl Sander; 29 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Mark Gibson, Natalie and Nicole Moon, Corby and Troy Friederich, Michael Schmidt, Aaron, Ryan and Jenna Friederich, Brian, Stephen and Timothy Murphy, Brant and Burke Schrader, Brandi, Bobbi Jo and Blair Everman, Andrew and Amy Schrader, Matthew Mueller, Ryan and Mandy Groth, Karisa, Kollin and Karlie Groth, Natasha Groth, Stacy and Mitchell Meyer; also surviving are four sisters-in-law, Maxine Meyer, Esther Meyer and Mabel Meyer, all of Postville and Amy Reid of Clermont, and many nieces and nephews.
