Mrs. JOHN (Jessie Coyle) SANDERS 1866-1954

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Schutte Funeral Home for Mrs. John Sanders, 87, who had passed away in Hinsdale, Illinois, last Saturday morning. Mrs. G. B. Richter of Waukon conducted the Christian Science services, and interment was in Postville cemetery.

Jessie Coyle Sanders was born in Humboldt, Iowa, on March 13, 1866, the daughter of Dr. Gilbert and Margaret Holmes Coyle. She spent her childhood in Kansas, and came with her mother to Postville in 1881.

After her graduation from high school, she taught nearby schools for several years, and in 1887 was married to John Sanders, a pioneer Postville merchant. Mrs. Sanders lived in Postville until ten years ago when she went to Hinsdale, Illinois, to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Reineke, in whose home she passed away.

Her husband and one son, Gilbert, passed away before her. She is survived by one son, J. Kenneth Sanders of Tryon, North Carolina, and one daughter, Jeannette (Mrs. John Reineke) of Hinsdale, Illinois; also five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral of Mrs. Sanders were: Kenneth Sanders of Tryon, North Carolina; Mr. and Mrs. John Reineke, Hinsdale, Illinois; Leo Sanders of Nashua, Iowa; Mrs. Harley Schlick and Alton Sanders of Charles City; Mrs. Gilbert Sanders of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ann Taylor and Dr. and Mrs. Nordin of Waukon.
