Mrs. GILBERT (Ethel Ward) SANDERS 1891-1978

Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, 1978 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, for Ethel Sanders, who died May 17, 1978. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. The Rev. Dick Harberts officiated.

Born January 12, 1891 in Postville, she was the daughter of John and Hannah Alward Ward. Her great grandparents were pioneers in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. Ethel taught school in Clayton and Fayette counties.

August 28, 1911, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Sanders in Postville, where they lived most of their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son in infancy, one brother, Robert and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Florence) Wheatley. Her three children, Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Norden of Waukon; Janet Overhuls of Indianapolis, Indiana and Dr. John Sanders of Las Vegas, Nevada, survive. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
