Funeral services for Otto A. Schlitter, 85, of LeClaire, Iowa, were held Monday afternoon, April 5, at 1:30 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral Home at Monona, with Rev. W. K. Bodamer of Prairie du Chien, Wis., officiating.

Burial was in the Sixteen cemetery.

Mr. Schlitter died Friday, April 2, at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport, where he was taken a few hours earlier after suffering a stroke.

He was born the son of Albert and Caroline, nee Schuck, Schlitter, Dec. 20, 1879, in Linton township, Allamakee county. He was confirmed at the Evangelical church at Watson when he was a young boy, and received his education in rural schools of the area.

He was married to Pearl M. Cahoon, Dec. 17, 1902. Twelve children were born of this marriage. Most of his life was spent in Allamakee county where he farmed and also operated a threshing machine and a saw mill. In 1951 he moved to Le Claire, where he made his home with his youngest daughter, Laura Valley.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his oldest daughter, Mrs. Herb (Carrie) Genz, one sister, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Huff, one brother, Reinhardt, and four grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons: Leo of Denver, Colo., Raymond and Fred of Davenport, Harold of Waukon, and Herbert of Harpers Ferry; six daughters: Mrs. Chester (Bertha) Swanson of Illinois City, Ill., Mrs. W. A. (Lena) Linville of Dixon, Mrs. Earl (Laura) Valley of LeClaire, Mrs. Agnes Shano and Mrs. William (Hazel) Letterman of Davenport, and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Ellis of Postville; thirty-four grandchildren and forty seven great grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by Miss Marjorie Schlitter, organist.

Pallbearers were: Gary Ellis, Howard Leppert, Curtis Shoenthal, David Schlitter, Donald Chapin, Bill Yeoman, Roland Genz, and David Holrovd.
