Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral home for Alfred F. Schultz, 74, who passed away October 8, 1953. Rev. Rothnen was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Alfred Fridrich Schultz passed away on October 8, 1953, following a heart attack, at the age of 74. He was born January 23, 1879 in Winneshiek county, the oldest son of Henry Schultz and Minna Frietag.

He was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith, and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville on March 26, 1893 by Rev. John Gass.

He attended the Postville public schools, and spent most of his life working on farms in this area.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Louis, William and John.

He is survived by one sister Elizabeth (Mrs. Ben Overbeck) of San Bruno, California; one brother Otto of Whittier, California and a half brother Fred Bauder of Des Moines. He is also survived by four nephews, Donald Overbeck of Garnavillo, Frederick Overbeck of San Jose, California, Keith Overbeck of San Bruno, California, Frederick Bauder of Des Moines; two nieces, Mrs. John Wistrick of San Bruno, California, and Mrs. Ed Meiners of Whittier, California.
