Amanda Elisabeth Anna (Reinhardt) Schultz
Amanda Elisabeth Anna Schultz, daughter of Harry and Martha (Duwe) Reinhardt, was born September 27, 1904 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Postville, Iowa. She died Saturday, January 28, 1995 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She was 90 years old.
Amanda was baptized in 1905 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa and confirmed there in 1918. She attended the Grand Meadow School No. 7 near her home. On February 15, 1952 she was married to Elmer B. Schultz at Preston, Minnesota. They lived north of Castalia, near Waldon Pond.
Amanda was employed at Hefner's Grocery Store (MacMillan's) in Castalia and later at Hanson's Variety Store in Postville. She moved to Postville in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She loved gardening and flowers, playing cards and crocheting. She also enjoyed helping with the pancake breakfasts at Walden Pond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer, who died January 31, 1977, and a sister, Alma (Mrs. Paul Willman).
Survivors include her sister, Hattie (Mrs. Arbie Rose) of Postville, a sister-in-law, Amanda K. (Mrs. Henry Schultz) of Castalia and a brother- in-law, Dean Kneeskern of Preston, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 31, 1995 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville with the Rev. Charles W. Miller officiating.
Casket bearers were LaVern Johnson, Jack Hagensick, Bruce Anderson, Rodney Hagensick, James Schultz and Myron Schultz.
The Schutte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
