William Henry Schutta

Funeral services for William Henry Schutta, who died January 31 at the age of 75 years, were held February 2 at Schutte Funeral Home. The Rev. C. E. Witt of St. Paul Lutheran church officiated at the service.

William Henry Schutta was born on November 12, 1881, the son of Fred Schutta and his wife Mary Hoth Schutta. He passed away at the Postville hospital on January 31, 1957 at the age of 75 years, two months and 19 days. He had been a patient in the hospital for several weeks.

He was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Monona on April 30, 1882 and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville on April 5, 1896. He was married to Martha Depping at Ludlow on October 13, 1910.

For a number of years they farmed near Frankville, moving to Postville about 28 years ago, where he has worked as a saw mill operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who passed away November 8, 1942; a daughter, who died at birth; and a half brother, Charles Hoth.

He is survived by two brothers, Herman Schutta of Postville; and John Schutta of Frankville; one half sister, Mrs. Herman Gipp of Ossian; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on February 2, at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
