FRED L. SNITKER 1908-1987
Fred L. Snitker died December 17, 1987 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19, 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waukon. Rev. Lynn Groe officiated. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Fred L. Snitker, son of Julius and Cora Stevens Snitker was born July 1, 1908 in Makee Township, Allamakee county, IA. He received his education in area schools and went to Waterville High School for 2 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Dec. 12, 1927 he married Ruby Jones, she died in 1963. April 3, 1965 he married Lila Sandry Meyer at Red Wing, Minn.
Preceding him in death were his daughter Loretta Mae and a son Donald, also a great-grandson, Corey Gene; 3 brothers, Harold, Emmett and Willard and a sister, Stella.
Surviving are his wife, Lila, a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Darlene) Sickels, Waukon; stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) Curry, Hager City, Wisconsin and 2 stepsons, James Meyer, Luverne, Minnesota and Robert Meyer, Hager City, Wisconsin; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Elliott, Waukon, Mrs. Edna Fredendall, Belle, Missouri and Mrs. Ruth Guggenheim, Rockledge, Florida and a brother, Ronald, Waukon.
Pallbearers were Gary Sickels, Dennis Sickels, Arlyn Snitker, Steven Snitker, Randy Johnson, Richard Elliott, J. J. Jeyer and Kenneth Snitker.
