Mrs. DAN (Elsie W. Flage) SNITKER 1899-1972

Services were held Sunday, October 8, 1972 at 2:00 p.m. from Salem United Church of Christ, Ludlow township, for Mrs. Dan Snitker, who died in the Postville hospital Wednesday, October 4, 1972, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Walter G. Clausing officiated.

Mrs. Dan Snitker, nee Elsie W. Flage, daughter of the late David and Sophia Hager Flage, was born in Ludlow township, Allamakee county on December 20, 1899. She was baptized in Zalmona church and confirmed March, 1915 in the Zalmona church by the Rev. F. Sissler. She attended local public schools. On February 7, 1922, she was united in marriage to Dan Snitker, and they observed their 50th wedding anniversary in February of this year. The couple farmed in Post and Ludlow townships until 1966 when her husband retired from active farming.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Calvin and Bernard, Waukon and Nathan of Postville; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Grant and David of Waukon; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard Snitker, Evangeline Flage and Mrs. Paul Nagel.

Preceding her in death were a daughter Evelyn, who died on the anniversary date of her mother's death, October 4, 1946; a brother Lorenz Flage and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Snitker.

Burial was in the Salem cemetery.
