ELMER HARRY SNITKER 1892-1971

Funeral services for Elmer Harry Snitker, 79, of Waukon were held Thursday morning, July 22, 1971, at 10:30 o'clock at Zalmona Presbyterian church near Waukon with Rev. Edwin Hancock officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Snitker died in Waukon, Monday, July 19, 1971. He was born a son of Fred and Caroline Pieper Snitker, April 8, 1892, in Allamakee county, where he lived all his life. He was married Jan. 3, 1912, to Emma Bechtel in Ludlow township, Allamakee county. He was educated in the Waukon schools, and had been a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of Zalmona Presbyterian church.

Preceding him in death were a son, Robert; two sisters, Emma and Mattie, and two brothers, Albert and Reuben. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. B. J. (Arlene) Deeney of Waukon, Mrs. Robert (Marion) Wirkler of Monona, and Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Johnson of Decorah; six sons, Irvin and Lawrence of Waukon, Merlin of Postville, Walter of Abilene, Kan., and Benjamin and James of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Charlotte) Helming and Mrs. Arthur (Esther) Brandt; 48 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Dennis Deeney, Frank Hangartner, and Ronald, Rick, Virgil, and Larry Snitker.
