Robert Francis Whalen

Robert Francis Whalen, 68, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.

He was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Waukon, Iowa, to Frank Whalen and Lucille Thomas Whalen. He moved to Rogers 14 years ago from England. He was retired from the electronic manufacturing industry and worked at Rogers Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korea War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Whalen; and a daughter, Rhonda Kay Whalen.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Challen Whalen; three sons, Gregory Whalen of Ohio, Craig Whalen of Sydney, Australia, and James Whalen of the home; a daughter, Rochelle Hawes of Worthing, England; a sister, Nadean Trudo of Rogers, and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers with Minister Jeff Crawford. Cremation arrangements are by the Benton County Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society, in care of the Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers, AR 72756.

Bob Whalen, 68, formerly of Waukon, passed away Monday, October 7, 2002, at his home in Rogers, Ark., following a short illness. Funeral services were held Friday, October 11 in Rogers. Bob was born in Waukon to Frank and Lucille (Ford) Whalen. He grew up in Waukon and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1942. He is survived by his wife Margaret, son James of Rogers, and children in England and Australia.
