ALBERT & ANNA (Brandt) ZIEMAN 1860 & 1870-1950

DOUBLE RITES FOR ALBERT ZIEMANS

A double funeral service was held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zieman, who passed away within a day of each other. Mr. Zieman passed away on October 5 and Mrs. Zieman followed on October 6.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig. Burial was in Postville cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Zieman had been lifelong residents of this community.

Albert Zieman, son of John Zieman and Elizabeth Meyer Zieman, was born on December 14, 1860 in Jefferson township, Clayton county and departed this life on October 5, 1950 at Postville, aged 89 years. He was received into active membership in the Lutheran church.

Anna Marie Brandt Zieman, daughter of William Brandt and Maria Block Brandt, was born April 17, 1870 in Jefferson township, Clayton county and departed this life on October 6, 1950 at Postville, aged 80 years. She was received into active membership in the Lutheran church.

Mr. and Mrs. Zieman were united in marriage on April 27, 1888. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive the passing of their parents.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Zieman spent their entire lifetime as residents of this community. They farmed in Clayton county until 1915 when they retired and moved to Postville.

Left to mourn their passing are four children: Clinda, Mrs. Elmer Weihe, of Postville, Elmer of Postville, Verni of Monona, Estella, Mrs. R. C. Huebner of Postville; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Zieman was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.

Mrs. Zieman is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Gene Birdsell of Frankville, Mrs. Jim Birdsell of Waterloo and Mrs. Ray Birdsell of Decorah; two brothers, Arthur Brandt and Walter Brandt of Frankville. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
