Walter F. Bechtel, 68, died Thursday, Sept 7, 2000, in rural Waukon after a sudden illness. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, by the Rev. James Walker. Burial of ashes: Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include a brother, Vernon of Alexandria, La.
