Myrtle Magdalene Mathis, 83, died Monday, April 14, 1997, in the Good Samaritan Center after a lengthy illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery-Paint Rock, Harpers Ferry. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, where a Scripture service begins at 4 p.m.

Survivors include her husband, Willis; a daughter, Diane Regan of Waukon; four sons, Gerald, Bob and Dale, all of Harpers Ferry, and Galens of Dubuque; a brother, Bernard Steiber of Lansing; and three sisters, Viette Englehorn of Lansing, Muriel Cooper of Waukon and Edith Love of Mesa, Az.
