Lester C. Fink, 81, of rural Lansing, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, after a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, First Presbyterian Church, Waukon, by the Rev. Larry Olson. Burial: Lansing Ridge Cemetery, rural Lansing. Firends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.
Surviviors include his wife, Marie; and three sisters, Geneva Johnson and Betty Gramlich, both of Waukon and Jennette Rhode of Caledonia., Mn.

Lester C. Fink, 81, of rural Lansing, died Wed., Dec. 27, 2000 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.Funeral services were held Sat., Dec. 30 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in Lansing Ridge Cemetery.
Lester Clarence Fink was born Sept. 24, 1919 in New Albin, the son of Leo and Lydia (Meyer) Fink. He attended Village Creek area schools in rural Lansing while he worked for relatives and neighbors on their farms. He also did quite a bit of work for the city of Lansing, as well as area churches and families, with a team of ponies he owned.
He later worked for Brennan Construction Company of Lansing and was involved with several projects in the Dubuque area. During 1940 and 1941 he worked on the construction of the AlCan Highway.
On Nov. 19, 1942 he married Marie King in Waukon. Lester and Marie farmed together in the Sand Cove area of rural New Albin before moving to the Wexford area, where he continued farming.
Additionally, he drove a Lansing school bus route for 22 years. Lester enjoyed fishing, yet his passion was for his work. He was very fond of his ponies and truly loved his farm.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ethel Fritz and Dorothy Foster; and three brothers, Leland, LaVerne, and Raymond. Survivors include his wife, Marie, of Lansing, as well as three sisters - Geneva Johnson and Betty (Curtis) Gramlich, both of Lansing, and Jennette Rhode of Caledonia, MN.
Honorary casketbearers were Vince Mullarkey, John Delaney, Gary Whittle, George Delaney, Dan Conway, John Conway, John O'Neill, and Tom O'Neill. Casketbearers were Bruce Benzing, Brian Kann, Kenan Johnson, Jack Fink, Tom Fritz, and Kyle Johnson.
Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
