CHARLES SAMUEL JONES 1900-1982

A graveside service for Charles (Charlie) Samuel Jones of rural Luana was held Nov. 12 at the Wadena Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Parrott officiated.

Jones, the son of Arthur and Nancy McShane Jones, was born Oct. 7, 1900, in Luana. He died Nov. 9 at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa.

Jones married Kathryn Tschantz in 1934. She died in 1936.

Others preceding him in death are: a son, who died in infancy, his parents and four sisters. Surviving are two nieces, a nephew and a brother-in-law.

Submitter not related -- posted for benefit of others. According to his mother's obituary, Mrs. Arthur Jones, Charlie lived on the home farm in Franklin township.

Additional information that the original Postville obituary had not included when they printed the obituary:

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son who died in infancy, his parents and 5 sisters, Nellie Jones, Stella Jones, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Whittenbaugh, Mrs. Lyal (Lottie) Whittenbaugh, and Mildred, who died in infancy, and a nephew John Whittenbaugh.

Survivors include 2 nieces, Nancy Grindle of Cherokee, Iowa, and Stella Hoing of Silver Springs, Maryland; one nephew, Robert C. Whittenbaugh of Fredericksburg, Maryland, and a brother-in-law, Robert Whittenbaugh of Wadena, Iowa.
