Beatrice Irene Jarmes
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, for Mrs. Glen Jarmes of Fairfield, who died at University Hospitals, Iowa City, June 23, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Dick Harberts officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were her four sons and a grandson.
Beatrice Irene, the daughter of Charles and Bertha May Minerman, was born August 13, 1907 in Exira, Iowa. She received her education in Wessington Springs, South Dakota and Wessington Springs Junior College.
On February 14, 1931 she was united in marriage to Glen Jason Jarmes and they became the parents of five children. Mrs. Jarmes was worthy Matron of the Postville Eastern Star in 1955, was a member of the Iowa Historical Society and an active amateur artist.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Alan J. Jarmes, July 6, 1966.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Mrs. Robert (Glenna) Enyart, and James G. Jarmes, both of Postville; Jack G. Jarmes, South Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jay L. Jarmes, Englishtown, New Jersey and Jon J. Jarmes, Des Moines; seven grandsons, three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; a brother Leonard Minerman of California and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Vivienne) Meyer, Bloomington, Illinois and Mrs. Alvan (Marcella) Jorgensen, Exira.
