Glen Jarmes Services Today
Funeral service for Glen J. Jarmes, 73, are being held Wednesday, (today) June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with the Rev. Dick F. Harberts officiating. Schutte Funeral Service has charge of arrangements with burial in the Postville Cemetery.
Glen Jason Jarmes, son of Frank and Erva (Koth) Jarmes, was born July 7, 1910 at Monona. He died Sunday morning, June 10, 1984 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
He graduated from the Monona High School in 1928 and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette and Drake University in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Glen was married to Beatrice Minerman at Dallas Center Feb. 14, 1931. They were the parents of five children. In 1946 he purchased the George Meyer Grocery Store which was located in the former Burling Building. He also managed the Postville baseball team which went to the State Tournament in Des Moines. Glen was a member of the American Legion and the Postville Volunteer Fire Department.
He was married to Marjorie E. Crafton December 29, 1975 at Monmouth, IL. Prior to his retirement, Glen had been a security guard at Oklahoma University, Norman, OK. and Parsons College, Fairfield.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice, who died June 23, 1974, his parents and two grandchildren, Alan and Julie Jarmes.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie, Fairfield; four sons, James, Postville; Jack, South Milwaukee, WI; Jay, Harvard, IL and Jon of Pasadena, CA; a daughter, Glenna (Mrs. Robert Enyart), Postville; two stepdaughters, Glenda Cook and Denise Snook, both of Fairfield; nine grandchildren, Cathy Enyart White, Charles W. and Christopher J. Enyart, Kendal L., Steven W. and Gary J. Jarmes, Joel G., Jeffrey L. and Jill A. Jarmes; five step grandchildren, Mark, Cindy, Vicky and Mike Reighard and Andy Cook, Jr. and three great grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremiah White and Kimberly Enyart.
