Funeral services for William "Bill" Sandry, 67, of Davenport were held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport. Bill died Wednesday, October 29 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, was in charge of arrangements. William Jacob Sandry was born November 15, 1935, in Lansing, the son of Odean and Gladys (Sweeney) Sandry. He married Jean Overbeck on May 31, 1959, in Monona, Iowa. He worked as a carpenter for Local Union #4 for 40 years, retiring in 1999.
Bill was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He supported youth baseball and coached Little League and Pony League baseball teams. He also enjoyed watching western movies. Survivors include his wife, Jean of Davenport; sons Bill (Karla) and Bruce (Lisa), both of Davenport; and six grandsons Zac, Bryce, Kyle, Skyler, Andrew, and Ryne. Other survivors include a special family member, Willie Burpo; brothers Gerald Sandry of DeSoto, Wis., and James Sandry of Davenport; a sister, Mary Severson of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Sandry. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport.
