Waukon, Ia., Nov. 11 - Mrs. William Howes died at the home early Sunday morning following a long illness.

Mrs. Margaret Cunningham Howes was born at the family home 55 years ago, and this locality had always been her home.

Surviving are her husband, five children, Mrs. Leonard Baxter, Waukon; Mrs. James Kirkbride, Decorah; Emmet, Independence; Raymond, French Creek, and Miss Evelyn Howes, Dubuque; also four sisters, Mrs. William Farley, Mrs. Joseph Fahey, Mrs. Joseph Ryan, Waukon; Sister Mary Salvius, of the Presentation order, New Hampton; five brothers, Joseph Cunningham, Park River, N.D.; Emmet, Willard, Albert and James Cunningham, all of this locality.

Waukon, Ia., Nov. 12- A requiem high mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock by Rev. J.C. Stuart for Mrs. William Howes who died at the family home in Hanover township at a late hour Saturday evening after a several weeks' illness.

Burial was made in Mount Olivet cemetery. Casket bearers were David Deeny, Michael Mahoney, Gustave Gruber, James McAneny, Patrick Tierney and John McLaughlin.

Mrs. Howes whose maiden name was Miss Margaret Cunningham was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham, pioneer residents of Allamakee county. She was born in Hanover township, March 8, 1868, and after her marriage to William Howes they made their home on a farm in that vicinity where they reared a family of five children who, with the husband, survive.

The children are Emmet, Independence; Miss Evelyn, Dubuque; Mrs. James Kirkbride, Decorah; Mrs. Leonard Baxter, Union Prairie and Ray of French Creek. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: George Cunningham, Stansbury, Mo.; Joseph, Hurd, N.D.; Thomas, Logan, Kansas; Albert, James and Emmet, Waukon; Williard, Hanover; Mrs. William Farley and Mrs. Joseph Fahey, Union Prairie; Mrs. Joseph Ryan, Hanover, and Sister Mary Salvos of Hampton, Ia.
